Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history.
This month's story :-

There are two versions of why the bell of Westminster is called Big Ben. The most likely one is that it was named after the then current bare-knuckle champion boxer Ben Caunt. Big Ben himself stood 6’ 2” and scaled 17 stone. His namesake stands 7’ 6” and weighs in at over 13 tons.
In September 1859, two months after going into service, it cracked, but a lighter hammer was fitted with the crack turned away from it so that it could once more ring out with the distinctive off pitch note that persists to this day.
